FreeBSD had HAL support, but that’s deprecated now (even on Linux), and there’s no udev port. It’s discussed about halfway down the page in this link:Īnother issue is HAL/udev. On FreeBSD, the vfs.usermount kernel parameter needs to be set to 1, you need to be a member of the operator group, and you also need to own the mount point. Most (all?) of the BSDs limit normal users’ access to mount(8). Most will work just as they would when running on Linux.
